I was so sad to see this even though I had not seen Mark in 35 years. We were great friends and room mates when were both stationed at New London in the late 70's. We had some great, and sometimes crazy, times together. So sorry to see that he has passed.

So handsome, and so obviously happy...I'll remember you like this for the rest of my life sweetie.

Hey Baby.... I was thinking about you today, as I've done every day since we lost you, and I realized that even tho I didn't see you often, you had such an impact on my life, my heart and my soul. The depth of sadness and loss I feel is overwhelming sometimes. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't look at your picture, remembering your voice, your laughter and your sense of humor. I miss you, and I love you. Always, Sue

It came as such a shock to learn of Marks passing today. I worked with Mark for many years at EB. He was a great gentle guy with a wonderful sense of humor and a pleasure to work with. I will remember his laughter, big grin and mischievous nature forever. God speed to you Mark. Thanks for the memories. I will miss you. Peace and love to his family.

Mark was truly one of the great guys. I worked with Mark for many years and always enjoyed his sense of humor. Through the years we played basketball and golf and drank a few beers together and had many laughs. Mark you will be missed by many but never forgotten. Rest in Peace. Cathi and Mark's family are in my thoughts and prayers.

So sad to hear of Mark's passing. He was such a good guy. I hadn't seen him in so many years, but when we visited at Jan's wake, he was the same as I remember on his summer visits to us on the farm in St. Croix when we were kids.
I"ll never forget all the work my Dad would get Mark to do while he visited, and he always took it in stride. We always swore he'd never want to visit again, but always came back for more. Great memories of a great guy. Prayers for him and all of the family.

I will miss all the fun and laughter, especially the teasing and jabs (all in good fun), and the many stories you brought to our family. Although you were far away in miles, you always felt close in heart. You are loved and will be dearly missed.

Cathi, Tim, Peg, Mary, David, Rick (Jan), and families, I am sorry for the loss of your beloved brother. Please know that my mom, your cousin, Ida Mae, sends her biggest hugs and warm sympathy your way. I can't get over just how much Mark resembles Aunt Margaret. I can only imagine the hugs and pinches on the cheek from Aunt Anna and Mamaw as Mark is reunited with his loved ones in heaven!
Eternal rest, grant to him, O, Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

I did not know Mark well, except for fuzzy memories at Kelly reunions when I was a kid at the St. Croix hall. But one look at his face and it brings thoughts of Aunt Margaret, his mother, and Mom Kelly, whom he looks so much like! May he enjoy a family reunion in heaven with them all, full of laughter and music and peace. My sympathy iand prayers are with all the family. --Tara LaGrange Bishop (granddaughter of Mark's Aunt Blanch)

Didn't get a chance to see you very much during the years but when we did it was to old guys that could still laugh about many good and funny times in our life. I was able to keep up a little through peg and larry, but not enough. God bless you and all of your family

Dear Cathi and the entire McDowell Family,
I've worked with Mark, off ‘n' on over many years, since he first started at EB and for a while when he used to write for me. We had a terrific working relationship, because his support was not only of excellent quality, but was with an attitude t'match. Gonna definitely miss ‘im! Understanding the hole left behind, regardless the inevitability or forewarning, pray this helps some wee bit...to allow...enable…the grief! So truly sorry to hear about Mark. At least now he's at peace with our Lord … definitely keepin' y'all in my prayers!
When my mother died, even after a years-long battle with cancer, I was shattered by the loss…inconsolable…she was my mentor! I like to think that I got my character from my father, but my mind and its capacity from m'dear sainted mother!!! BUT, "If your faith assures you she's in heaven, then what are the tears all about?!?" I hold eternity dearly close...a cherished, hard-won prize...but, in the interim, that answer lies below.
SELFISH TEARS
(I Eulogize My Beloved Mother - March, 1989)
Today we cry...must admit they're selfish tears.
You see...our faith assures your journey's done.
But it's not for you we mourn, at all, my dear;
It's for those of us you've left behind...alone!!!
We share your joy...share your happiness at rest,
Your painful fears now for forever stilled.
You've fought the good fight, passed the final test,
But you've left behind a hole that can't be filled!!!
So, until we each rejoin you some someday,
And, while your memory buoys us through those years,
We'll miss you...but continue on our way,
And, from time to time, we'll cry our selfish tears!!!
Ray Hamilton (c) March 19, 1989

Cathi and family, We were so deeply saddened to hear of Marks passing. Even though we are cousins - I first met Mark at the Kelly Family Reunion in St. Croix. He was such a good and genuine person. So nice and funny. I know Heaven was glad to welcome him and he is now watching from above. Our prayers are with you for support and strength in this sorrowful time.
