Mary Spellman Obituary
She was born Oct. 9, 1933, in Norwich, the daughter of the late William and Viola (Spielman) Day. Mrs. Spellman was a teacher for the New London Board of Education, teaching at Harbor and Nathan Hale schools for several years.
She was united in marriage to Dan Spellmen on Jan. 25, 1964, in Norwich; she was predeceased by him.
A longtime resident of Waterford, she worked on election committees for the Waterford Democratic Party.
She is survived by three step-children and their spouses, Michael and Susan Spellman of Groton, Patricia and Bruce Cloutier Sr. of New London, Lawrence and Karla Spellman of Chesterfield; six grandchildren, Jennifer Teixeria, Bruce Cloutier Jr., Jeffrey and Christopher Cloutier, Patrick and Daniel Spellman; four great-grandchildren; a cousin, Barbara Patten of Waterford; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Viola Daley.
Ther family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 13, at the Impelliteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montuak Ave., New London. Interment is private.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill, CT 06375.
