Matthew Kierys Obituary
He was born in New London, on March 26, 1962, the son of Matthew and Diane (Sousa) Kierys of Waterford. He was a graduate of Old Saybrook High School, class of 1980. He had many trades, as an outside machinist, a tile installer and his favorite, motorcycle sales.
Matthew was a loving father, grandfather and a Christian. He cherished his parents and his family. His passions were motorcycles, racing and grilling. He was a sharp dresser with a keen sense of style. He had a big heart and was always willing to help out. Matt loved to make people laugh.
Matthew's greatest gift was his daughter, Stephanie. He will be dearly missed by her and her husband, Eric Cummings, and his two grandchildren, Chance (2 yrs) and Travis (5 weeks) of Fort Riley, Kan. In addition to his parents and his daughter and her family, Matthew is survived by a brother, Michael Kierys and his wife, Melinda, of Norwich; two sisters, Debra Collett and her husband, Jerry, of Waterford and Dawn Begun and her husband, Ted, of Colchester. Matthew leaves many nieces and nephews behind who he loved dearly and admired greatly.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday, at the Stedfast Baptist Church, 1041 Poquonnock Road, Groton. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Chance and Travis Cummings Scholarship Fund, Liberty Bank, 165 Boston Post Road, Waterford, CT 06385.

My deepest thought and prayers go out the the Kierys family. I am so sorry to hear of Matt's passing. Mike Alway remember the great memories you and your brother cherished together. It wont make the pain go away, but it will ease it alittle knowing you were the best brother you could be through out these many of years. He is in a good place. And will be watching over all of you, when those little mysterios thing happen throught you life.. It's Matt letting you know he is with you.
