Nellie Mugovero Obituary
She was born in Brighton, Sussex, England, May 25, 1923, the daughter of George and Nellie (Humphrey) Marchant. She served in the Woman's Royal Air Force for five years during World War II as a leading aircraftwomen. While in England, she was an avid swimmer in the Thames River winning many ribbons and awards. She was the widow of George Alger Mugovero, who predeceased her in 1976.
Mrs. Mugovero was a communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in New London.
She is survived by three sons, George A. Mugovero Jr. of Oakdale, David J. Mugovero of Uncasville, Graham K. Mugovero of Waterford; two daughters, Kathryn E. Baracco of Ballwin, Mo., and Louise A. Dickens of Quaker Hill. She has 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Doris Stroud and Irene Marchant Noble; and a great-grandson.
The funeral will assemble at 9:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London, and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill, CT 06375; or to the Center for Hospice Care Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.

Dear Kathy, Louise, George, David, Graham, and the entire Mugovero Family,
I am so sorry I've been otherwise engaged and unable to make it to your mom's funeral; I remember her, and y'all, well and fondly. She was an amazingly special lady; having lost both parents myself, I also know, all too well, the very special loss!
Understanding the hole left behind, regardless the inevitability or forewarning, pray this helps some wee bit...to allow...enable…the grief! So truly sorry to hear about your mom. At least now she's at peace with our Lord…definitely keepin' y'all in my prayers!
When my mother died, even after a years-long battle with cancer, I was shattered by the loss…inconsolable…she was my mentor! I like to think that I got my character from my father, but my mind and its capacity from m'dear sainted mother!!! BUT, "If your faith assures you she's in heaven, then what are the tears all about?!?" I hold eternity dearly close...a cherished, hard-won prize...but, in the interim, that answer lies below.
SELFISH TEARS

Today we cry...must admit they're selfish tears.
You see...our faith assures your journey's done.
But it's not for you we mourn, at all, my dear;
It's for those of us you've left behind...alone!!!
We share your joy...share your happiness at rest,

You've fought the good fight, passed the final test,
But you've left behind a hole that can't be filled!!!
So, until we each rejoin you some someday,
And, while your memory buoys us through those years,

Helen was my customer at D&L in the New London Mall. She was a lovely unforgettable woman. Helen loved her family and was so proud of everything they did. When I left D&L she was the person I missed the most. She was one in a million.
