Patricia M. Zoldy

East Lyme - Patricia M. (Griffin) Zoldy, 75, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, New London.

She was born June 20, 1938, in Bridgeport, the daughter of Daniel J. and Mary (McDermott) Griffin. She married James S. Zoldy, her husband of 52 years, at St. Theresa Church in Trumbull on July 15, 1961.

Pat graduated from Lauralton Hall in 1956 and then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Bridgeport in 1960. She worked as a third grade teacher in the Bridgeport School system until 1962.

Pat was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul society and attended St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Waterford. She was a longtime volunteer in local soup kitchens and a driver for the local Meals on Wheels organization for many years. Pat was an avid and well known walker who cherished daily hikes around her beloved Niantic.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, James S. Zoldy Jr. and his wife, Jacqueline, of Watertown and Robert J. Zoldy of Middletown and his partner, Marianne Pilato. Pat is also survived by her three grandchildren, Daniel, Sarah and Jamie Zoldy of Watertown.

She was predeceased by her brother, Daniel Griffin Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Church, Rope Ferry Road, Waterford. Interment in the Connecticut Veterans Cemetery will be private.
