Ralph Henderson Obituary

Spring Hill, FLa. - Ralph L. Henderson Sr. of Spring Hill, Fla., died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013.

He was born in Groton, the son of the late Thomas and Stella Henderson with three brothers and five sisters. Ralph was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served from 1944 to 1952 in World War II, Operation Crossroads, and in the Korean war. He married Lorine A. Hewlitt in 1951, in Groton, where they raised their family on Baker Ave. Ext. He retired in 1973 from the Underwater Sound Lab in New London. He was a member of the local Knights of Columbus and Elks in Groton.

He loved to golf. In 1984, they moved to Spring Hill to further enjoy their retirement. Ralph and Lorine both enjoyed spending time at the Local VFW post 8681, playing Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and bringing the grandkids to Disney.

He was predeceased by Lorine A. Hewlitt in 1999.

He is survived by two sisters, Eleanor and Helen Norman, both of Gales Ferry. Ralph will be greatly missed by his three children, Deborah Henderson, Ralph Jr. and Mary Anderson. Ralph leaves behind five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
