Robert Pierce Obituary
Mr. Pierce was born on Oct. 3, 1929, in Westerly, R.I., the son of Ralph and Mildred Clark Pierce. He graduated from Web Institute on Long Island.
He married Marie Filskov on May 2, 1953, in South Amboy, N.J. He retired after a long career as the director of Quality Assurance at Electric Boat in Groton in 1992. He served as chairman of the Board of Education in East Lyme from 1962 until 1971.
Mr. Pierce is survived by his loving wife Marie; his four sons, Ralph W. Pierce of Pawcatuck, Harold T. Pierce of Coram, N.Y., Kevin R. Pierce of Vietnam, and Douglas R. Pierce of East Lyme; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, in Niantic Community Church, 170 Pennsylvania Ave., Niantic.
Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, Niantic, is handling the arrangements.

Dear Marie and Family,
I will always remember Bob as a strong and gentle presence in our lives. I know my parents, Doug and Dorothea Krauter, were very fond of him. What wonderful times we all had long ago in Seattle and Connecticut.

Marie and family,
The first words that came to mind in reading Bob's obituary this morning were honesty, integrity and professionalism. He never compromised his values and inculcated those around him with the same sense of obligation. It was a privilege working for Bob back in the heyday of the 637-Class new construction program and he will always be remembered by me as a good manager, mentor and friend. Please accept my sincerest condolences.
