Ruth Daniels Obituary

Mystic - Ruth (Hosmer) Daniels, 93, of Mystic, died at Avalon Health Care Center on Tuesday, August 13, 2013.

She was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Frank Hosmer and Eunice Storer. She attended local schools and graduated from The University of Minnesota. She married retired Capt. Lowell Preston Daniels USN, on Dec. 22, 1941. He predeceased her.

She was a long time member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, a 20 year Mystic Seaport volunteer, member of The Mystic Woman's Club, and a founder of the Woman's Club Thrift Shop. She was an avid reader, bridge player, and enjoyed many world travels and winters in Hawaii.

Ruth is survived by her three sons and their wives, Christopher Daniels and Laurel Butler of Mystic, David and Kathy Daniels of Red Wing, Minn., and John and Marcia Hasie-Daniels of The Plains, Va. and Hoffman, N.C. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 22, 2013, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Pearl Street, Mystic, with a reception following.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Mark's Altar Guild or the Mystic & Noank Library.

The family extends our deep appreciation to the staff at Avalon for making Ruth's last years enjoyable. We also extend our gratitude to her friends at StoneRidge for welcoming and supporting her since 2004, and to Lyn Gates for her dependable love and thrice weekly visits.

Ruth and Lowell were great friends of my parents! They had fun playing bridge, taking trips, Mystic Women's Club, parties, etc. Your parents were always friendly and kind to me, I too, have fond memories of them both. Laurie (McFadden) DeLia
