Stella Donahue Obituary

Waterford - Stella A. Donahue, 84, of Waterford, entered eternal life on July 7, 2013.

She was born Oct. 26, 1928, in New London, the daughter of the late Stephan and Helen (Potkay) Kalinowski. She attended local schools in New London and was united in marriage to Robert W. Donahue on June 12, 1954, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

Mrs. Donahue retired from the Waterford Board of Education, working for over 20 years at Great Neck School. She was a communicant of St. Paul Church in Waterford and a former member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, serving as one of the founding members of the Ladies Guild.

Besides her beloved husband of 59 years of marriage, she is survived by three sons, Brian Donahue and his wife, Patty Flaherty Donahue, of Stow, Mass., Shaun Donahue and Robert A. Donahue, both of Waterford; and a sister, Jennie Schaffer of Montgomery, Ala.

She was predeceased by her brother, Antoni Kalinowski, and sisters, Helen Gressler and Mary Sullivan.

Stella was a loving mother and wife who loved spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and a tremendous sports fan of UConn women's basketball and the New England Patriots.

Her family will receive relatives and friends from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Church, 170 Rope Ferry Road, Waterford.
