Therese Padgett Obituary
She was born on Sept. 22, 1929, in Port McNicoll, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Charles H. and Rose Brennan. Therese was the wife of David H. "Red" Padgett, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage on Sept. 1, 2013.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Fleet Reserve Auxiliary. She also volunteered for the USO, Navy Relief, and as a COBS wife. She loved ceramics and was an excellent seamstress.
Besides her husband, Therese is survived by her children, Charles R. Close and Nancy of Norcross, Ga., Kevin Close of Long Beach, Calif., Roselle Santacroce and James of Ledyard, Roxanne Locklear and Terry Padgett, both of Groton, and David H. Padgett Jr. of Mystic; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Gloria and Margaret Rose; and a grandchild, James V. Santacroce.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fairview for the excellent care given to Therese.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Friday at Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Drive, Groton. Interment will be in Smith Lake Cemetery, Groton.Visiting hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St.
