Victor Michael Parker

Dublin, Ohio - Victor Michael Parker passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, the result of a short illness. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final days as he slipped peacefully to the next world.

He was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Lithuania, as Viktoras Pretkelis, to parents Michael and Stefania Pretkelis. He graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering and then earned a master of science degree from the University of Illinois. He worked towards his Ph.D. at the University of Rhode Island and published several papers on his chosen field of study.

Martin Marietta, based in Florida, was his first employer. He then moved to Groton, to work at Electric Boat, General Dynamics facility. He completed his career at Babcock and Wilcox in Barberton, Ohio, and he resided in North Canton, Ohio. Victor moved to Dublin, Ohio, to join residence with his youngest daughter and family.

Victor leaves behind a loving family who cherished the time they spent with him. He is survived by three children, Dawn (Bert) Davis of Uncasville, Mark (Melissa) Parker of Waterford, and Christine (Stephen) Hiller, with whom he made his home in Dublin. His many grandchildren include, Kyle and Laura Davis, Justin, Jared, Myra and Micah Parker, and Rachel and Lauren Hiller. He is also survived by a brother, Ludvig Pretkelis of Sweden.

Victor was predeceased by both parents and a host of loving friends he made throughout his time in Chicago, Florida, Connecticut, and Ohio.

Victor's family would like to thank the kind and caring staff of Riverside Methodist Hospital, in Columbus, Ohio, for the exceptional care he received during his recent illness and through his final days.

A Celebration of his Life ceremony will be held by his family on June 22, 2013. His final wishes were to have his remains cremated and small amounts spread at some of his favorite areas of the U.S. He often said he had a wonderful life and was fortunate to live in such a "paradise" as the U.S.A.
