Wanda McFarland Obituary

Mystic - Wanda G. McFarland, 90, of Mystic, died Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Mystic Healthcare.

She was born Oct. 20, 1922, in Ligonier, Pa, the daughter of Clair Chambers and Fannie (Jackson) Goodhart. She was the wife of the late Captain M.C. (Mac) McFarland, a submariner and longstanding Mystic resident.

Mrs. McFarland graduated from the University of Rochester as a registered nurse (RN) and was a former U.S. Naval officer achieving the rank of LTJG.

She is survived by her children, Bruce, Laurie, Scott, Jocelyn, Gregg and Sally; her grandchildren, Rob and Kate, Ross, Jill and Lee, Brad and Cameron, Chris, Casey and Morgan, Allison and Scott; as well as great-grandchildren, Nolan, Collins and Harrison. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Dingman.

A Graveside Service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Elm Grove Cemetery, Route 27, Mystic.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of CT, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy., Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic. is assisting the family.
