I knew Billy for sixty years. As friend you couldn't ask for a better one. He loved life and his family. He always had a smile and a good sense of humor. He loved the outdoors and working with the young kids in the drum and bugle corp. he was an inspiration to a lot of the city's youth in there younger days. I will miss him greatly. May he rest in peace and cast his line on peaceful waters and walk in sunshine always.

I met Mr. Barnhill when my husband, Ray Gibeault, marched with the Surfers Drum and Bugle Corp. I thought he was a great guy and sometimes would let me ride the bus to shows. When I started working at Sacred Heart School in Groton, little did I know I would meet him again! He was great with our students and they loved him. He would often stop and we would chat about about the Drum Corp. He will be truly missed!

I am so very sorry for your loss. I drove Bus with Barney in Groton for many years, he was always there to lend a hand, listen, and give advise. He always made me laugh, and was a wonderful, kind man. I always called him my big teddy bear, I was proud to know him, and call him my friend.
No farewell words were spoken
no time to say good-bye
you were gone before we knew it
and only god knows why
our hearts are filled with sadness
and secret tears still flow
what it means to lose you
no one will ever know.
R.I.P, Barney, you will be missed by all who knew you

Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here.
Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go.
Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.

I, and my wife Elaine are sorry for your loss. We knew Bill (somehow it changed to “Wee Willy” at times). We knew him from the Jennings Wall and later at EB – Bill never forgot to ask about Elaine and the kids. Our thoughts are with him.

To Billy's Family: I am so deeply sorry to hear of your loss. Billy and I grew up together from the 1940's with lots of other playmates who all got along so well. I haven't seen him in many years, but I felt such a loss after having learned today of his passing. Billy was always a beautiful person. He will be missed.

The angels looked down from heaven one night
They searched for miles afar,
And deep within the distance
They could see a shining star.
They knew that very instant
That the star was theirs to gain,
So they took you up to heaven
Forever to remain.
Look down on us from heaven
Keep us free from hurt and pain,
You'll always be within our hearts
Until we meet again.
RIP Barney.
Your friend and co-worker Cindy
