Waterford - Anna (Worobey) Laput, 94, of Waterford, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012.
Anna was the loving wife of George Laput Sr. He predeceased her in 1988. They were united in marriage on Sept. 3, 1939, in St. Nicholas Church in Norwich. Anna was born Jan. 19, 1918, in New London, the daughter of William and Nellie Worobey.
Anna graduated from The Williams Memorial Institute in 1938. She then went on to receive a certificate in hair care from The Hairdressing Academy of New London. She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm on Fire Street in Waterford from 1943-1964.
Anna was a very loving and nurturing woman to her family. A wonderful cook, she loved to host all holiday dinners. She was generous, loved doing fine needle work, sewing and caring for her gardens. She was always offering her wise advice and guidance to any of her family.
Anna leaves to cherish her memory five sons and two daughters, George Laput Jr. and wife, Ginny, of Rhode Island, Nicholas Laput of Florida; Stephen Laput of Quaker Hill, William Laput and wife, Sandra, of Putnam, Margaret Tudisco and husband, Stephen, of New London, Alexander Laput and wife, Lyn, of East Lyme, and Susan Clark and husband, Hendrik, of Oakdale. Anna adored her 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Anna's youngest son, Michael, predeceased her in 2010.
Viewing hours will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today, Oct. 25, at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London. She will be interred in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Norwich.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
