New London - Anthony G. Sturgis, beloved husband of Cindy Lou Sturgis, passed on to be with his Heavenly family on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013.

He was born on March 1, 1942 to the late Walter and Beatrice Sturgis in Lewiston Maine. Tony began his 18 year employment with Electric Boat in 1980, as foreman in the electricial dept., he was well respected as a fair and just boss. His crew received numerous citations for exceptional work done.
Tony took tremendous pride in offering his time and talent to his wife's business, Sturgis Sewing Studio. Since opening in 1994, Tony gave countless hours in the shop and he became a master seamstress. He enjoyed woodworking and as a youngster, he learned several trades from his father as they worked side by side building the family home.
Tonys strength of character and strength of body, having overcome several serious illnesses, will serve as a testament to his unique spirit. He will be greatly missed.
He is predeceased by his parents; and brother, Walter Sturgis Jr.
Tony is survived by his wife, Cindy Lou Sturgis; his sister, Mary Hatt and her companion, Richard Currier, of Freeport, Maine; his children, Rick Sturgis and wife, Colleen, of Cottontown, Tenn, Michael Sturgis of Harrison, Maine, Donna Laliberte and husband, Richard, of Lewiston, Maine; and stepson, Joseph F. Eckard of New London. Tony was a grandfather of nine; and great-grandfather of one; and foster father to five.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Huntington St. Baptist Church, New London.
