Barbara Jean Anderson Obituary
Groton - Barbara Jean Anderson, a native of Groton, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at Fairview Odd Fellows Home, in Groton.

Born on Aug. 15, 1943, she was the daughter of William B. and Claire Anderson. Barbara was a graduate of St. Bernard High School in Montville and Shepard Gill School of Nursing in Boston, Mass. She began her nursing career in the Boston area, then returned to Connecticut after her marriage to continue nursing. She volunteered at many local organizations, she enjoyed her time at Eastern Point Beach with her friends, and loved watching "her" Red Sox.

Barbara was a devoted, caring daughter, a great, dedicated mom, and a wonderful, true friend to so many! She was a giver, always looking to do for the next person, even when her own health was a constant concern. Barbara was seen all over the area, with her boots and her walker, driving friends to and from their treatments, delivering food to those in need, and driving her friends to the airport. She never missed a birthday, anniversary or any occasion, without sending a card, or a card to let you know she was thinking about you and saying some prayers, when she knew it was a troubling time. Barbara was a devoted member of the Groton Congregational Church, where she was a Deacon. Barb had a smile for everyone she saw, and will be terribly missed by all who knew her.

Barb leaves her sons, Brian M. Gaudet, of Westerly, and William B. Gaudet, of Barrington, R.I.; a daughter, Susan L. Anderson, of Waterford, her constant caregiver; a granddaughter, Abigail C. Kemble, of Barrington, R.I., who brought her immense joy; and Willie, her wonderful black cat. She also leaves brothers, Barrie W. Anderson, and his wife, Isa, and Robert M. Anderson, and his wife, Nancy; many nieces and nephews; and Barb's former husband, Raymond A. Gaudet, of Westbrook.

Her parents predeceased her.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at the Groton Congregational Church, 162 Monument St., Groton. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at the Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, at 181 Ocean Ave., New London.
