Mystic - Brian M. Gumbs, 51, of High St., passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 11, 2012, at the William W. Backus Hospital, Norwich.
He was born June 16, 1961, in New London, a son of Martin N. Gumbs of Canterbury and the late Rita (Post) Gumbs. Brian had lived in Canterbury for most of his life. He was employed as a pipefitter with Local # 777 for 30 years.
Besides his father, he leaves two daughters, Leah Gumbs of Norwich and Abrielle Gumbs of Mystic. A stepson, Mark Jacques of Hebron; a brother, Ralph S. Gumbs of Florida; five grandchildren, Stanley, Mason, Alena, Autumn and Arden; also several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Terry Burroughs.
Visiting hours are 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home, 595 Norwich Road, Plainfield. Burial in Westminster Cemetery, Canterbury, will be at the convenience of the family.
