Carol P. Strang Obituary
Groton - Carol P. Strang, 66, of Groton, formerly of East Lyme, passed away at home on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, after a two-year battle with a rare form of ALS. In her final months, she was surrounded by family, friends and an incredible team of caregivers.

She was born on Aug. 13, 1952, in Queens, N.Y., to the late Virginia and Lewis Patterson II. She spent her early life in Charlottesville, Va. and graduated from Radford College. Carol moved to Connecticut in 1976 and began her 40 year career working at the Connecticut College library until her retirement last May.

Carol was a proud and devoted mother to her two children, Dan Strang of Waterford and Carly Strang of Boston, Mass. She supported their education, activities and never missed a game. She loved being by the sea and was a longtime member of Shenecossett Beach Club. Carol will be remembered for her quiet strength, her contagious laugh, and her kind and curious nature.

In addition to her two children; Carol is survived by a sister, Ann Maheu and her husband, Joe, of Florida; a brother, Lewis Patterson III and his wife, Donna, of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; and her extended Strang family.

The family will be hosting a celebration of her life from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Strang residence at 85 Tyler Ave., Groton. All are welcome to come pay their respects, share stories and celebrate her joyful spirit.

Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton, is assisting her family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to ALS Association of Connecticut, 4 Oxford Road, E4, Milford, CT 06460.

Please visit www.byles.com for direction, to sign her guest book or to share a memory with her family.
