On July 9, 1961, he was born in New London, the son of Charles E. and Joan M. (Almeida) Vaill Sr. of Uncasville. He was the loving husband of Tamara Marie (Silva) Vaill for 28 years. They were married on Sept. 8, 1984 in New London, and would have celebrated their anniversary yesterday.
Charlie grew up in Montville and graduated from St. Bernard High School Class of 1979. After high school, he began working with his father and brother in the family business, Vaill Construction. He worked with them for 20 years until taking a job with the security department at Mohegan Sun Casino. He was a day one employee and worked there for 12 years, eventually working his way up to being the department manager of security monitor room. After being laid off, he returned to construction and started Vaill General Contracting.
Charlie was a man of many talents and interests. He loved music and even worked part time as a disc jockey. He enjoyed NASCAR and raced at Waterford Speedbowl in the number 08 car which he owned. He loved riding his motorcycle, playing pool and golf, and working in his yard. He was also an avid sports fan, always routing for the Texas Rangers and the New York Knicks, but his favorite was his beloved Washington Redskins. He was the past president of the Men's Auxiliary for Montvilles V.F.W.
What he treasured most in his life, and was his greatest passion, was his family. He loved spending time with them and was always there to take care of them. He was taken much too soon but will live in their hearts forever.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by three daughters, Erica Jean Vaill, Amy Marie Vaill and "future" son-in-law, Steve Camillucci, and Rechele May Vaill; a son, Michael Peterson; sister, Lisa Joan Perrone and husband, Richard R. Perrone; brother, Roger Buell Vaill and wife, Jean Godere Vaill; grandson, Caleb Peterson; in-laws, Robert and Janet Silva and Gale and John Fallon; and the family dog, "Bud boy" Budie Mays Vaill.
