Charles Hope Obituary
(Ret.) BMCM Hope was born Aug. 21, 1942, in Oakfield, Ga., to the late Maxie Bell Tellis and the late Willie Hope.
He was a member of Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church and a 1962 graduate of South Girard High School. He was retired from the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Person Hope of Phenix City; two sons, Charles Hope Jr. and Riccio (Kimberly) Hope, both of Gales Ferry; three sisters, Zeldra Ruth Cato of Melbourne, Fla., Berma Jean Green of Vero Beach, Fla., and Annie Lois Mills of Knoxville, Tenn.; Myrtle Goodwin; three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Rylee, and Riccio Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Hope was also predeceased by his loving wife, Maggie Hope, in February of 2000.
A memorial service for Charles J. Hope Sr. will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Christian Family Church, 1495 Hartford New London Turnpike (Route 85), Suite 1, Oakdale.

My thoughts and prayers are with his loving family. I served with Masterchief at Tug Ops in Groton. He inspired all he served with. He was a great Masterchief & Friend.

Masterchief was a great man, he always had time for his crew. I loved serving with him at Tug Ops. Truly an inspiration to all he came in contact with. He will be sadly missed. My thougths and prayers are with his loving family ath this difficult time & beyond.
