Stonington - Christopher R. Morey, 62, beloved husband of Rebecca (Rogers) Morey, Robin St., Pawcatuck, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011.
Born in New Rochelle, N.Y., he was a son of Russell G. Morey and Carol G. Johnson.
Christopher was employed at Electric Boat in Groton for 30 years, most recently as a principal engineer. He also worked for many years in marine construction on Long lsland, N.Y. Christopher attended S.U.N.Y., Stonybrook where he earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1969 and served our country in the Vietnam War, where he earned a Purple Heart, a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, and a Combat Action Ribbon.
He really enjoyed writing and published a book, "Right as Reignin 2004." Christopher was a music trivia buff and enjoyed old horror movies. He was a New York sports and Stonington High School football fan. He appreciated nature and the outdoors and took good care of his back yard birds. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Christopher is survived by his children, Rebecca S. Foster and her partner, Gilbert Main, Melissa J. Latawiec and her husband, Thomas, Russell R. Morey and his partner, Taryn Faulk, and Douglas C. Morey, all of Pawcatuck; nine grandchildren, all of Pawcatuck; five siblings, Margo J. Moore and her husband, Gary, of Greenport, N.Y., Tim Morey and his wife, Noami, of East Marion, N.Y., Peter Morey and his wife, Peggy, of Easton, Md., Andrew Morey and his wife, Susan, of Malfa, Va., and Matthew Morey of San Francisco, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are omitted. A funeral service with full military honors will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
