New London- Craig Sarah Balentine, 100, passed away peacefully at her home on March, 30, 2013. She had been a resident of New London for 81 years, moving to the city in 1932, as a new bride.

She was born in Easton, Pa., on Oct. 22, 1912, the only child of Harrison and Constance (Fay) Jones.
She graduated from Easton High School, class of 1930, and attended Westchester State Teachers' College in Westchester, Pa.
She was married to John K. Balentine Sr. for 40 years, and enjoyed the associations which came with his long standing career in education at the former Bulkeley School, New London High School, and Mitchell College.
She was a member, chairwoman, and past deaconess of Second Congregational Church which she joined in 1940 and a life member of the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital Auxiliary with over 500 hours of volunteer work. She loved her home, her summers at Ocean and Mitchell beaches with her family, and was a staunch supporter of UConn women's basketball and the Boston Red Sox.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Sharon P. Balentine.
Survivors include daughters, Connie F. Dorrie, (Gene) of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Louise C. Connolly (Ray) of Raleigh, N.C.; and son, John K. Balentine Jr., of New London; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by the Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no memorial service. Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery will be private.
