Montville - David Patrick Walters, 53, of Maple Ave., Uncasville, died on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at The William W. Backus Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.|
On Sept. 19, 1959, he was born in Putnam, the son of the late Donald and Virginia (Bachert) Walters.
David has been employed as a meat cutter at Stop & Shop for 26 years and was currently the meat manager at the Waterford store.
When he wasn't working, he could be found at one of the casinos, a favorite place of his, or more importantly, if it was summer, he would definitely be on his boat enjoying the water and entertaining friends. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and was an avid football fan. Most recently, he spent much of his time with his Pit Bull, Maggie. She was a rescue dog and was a source of love and happiness from the first day he met her.
David was a loving brother, uncle, and a great friend, with a passion for fun and laughter, and his spirit will live on in all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by two sisters, Donna Lewis and husband, George, of Killingly and Barbara Walters and spouse, Tia Mekuto, of Hampton; his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Lewis and Jon Malouin and their children, Emily and Ethan Malouin, Craig and Karen Lewis, and their daughter, Juna Lewis, and Brian Lewis and his son, Max Lewis; his godmother, Gertrude Panasuk; his cousins from Detroit; and his devoted friends who were always there for him, Tom, Christine, John, Jen, Kim, and Billy.
The Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville, is in charge of private arrangements.
A celebration of David's life will be held at a place and date to be determined.
