Montville - Edward W. Taylor Sr., 75, of Maple Ave., died on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at the William W. Backus Hospital.|
On Aug. 3, 1936, he was born in Montville, the son of Albert E. and Victoria (Wickowski) Taylor Sr. For 37 years, Ed worked at Robertson Paper Box/Rand Whitney and for the past 15 years he has worked as a valet dispatcher at Mohegan Sun. He was married to Irene Wilber on Nov. 24, 1956, at Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtown and would have celebrated their 56th anniversary this year.
Ed was an avid fisherman and a loyal Red Sox fan. He was well known for his Easter breakfasts, and for playing santa clause at the Moose Club and for friends. He was a boating enthusiast, enjoyed taking trips to New Hampshire and Maine and he cherished spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife Irene, he is survived by two children, Kathy Mahoney and husband, Wayne, of Montville and Edward W. Taylor Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Ballwin, Mo.; grandchildren, Tara Miller of Ledyard, Erin Taylor-Kremer and Alan Taylor of Ballwin, Mo.; great-grandson, Craig "CJ" Johnston Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth Stefanski.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Sharon Taylor; two brothers, Albert E. Taylor Jr. and George Taylor; and his sister, Marjorie Wilber.
The funeral will assemble at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. John Church. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
