Elbert L. "Bud" Morgan Obituary
Mystic - Elbert L. "Bud" Morgan, husband of the late Alice B. Morgan, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 2, 2012, at Apple Rehab in Mystic.

Bud was born on Dec. 18, 1927, in North Stonington, the son of William F. and Edith Louise (Merrill) Morgan. He grew up working on the family farm in North Stonington and happily lived his whole life in the house in which he was born.

He had always been proudly involved in his town. As a younger man, he was a member of the North Stonington Volunteer Fire Dept., and for years after was a committed member of the North Stonington Board of Finance. In later years, Bud worked at SPAFAS Inc. in Preston, where he was the head of the Maintenance Dept. and stayed on as a consultant for several years after his retirement. He was known to fix anything that came his way and was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone he possibly could.

Service was an idea that was fundamental to him throughout his life and perhaps most visibly seen in his numerous years with the Second Baptist Church in North Stonington, decades of which he spent as a deacon and church leader.

Bud is survived by his sons, Elbert L. Morgan Jr. of North Stonington, Timothy I. Morgan and his wife, Marianne, of Pawcatuck; a daughter-in-law, Kelly Morgan of Norwich; granddaughter, Cammy Morgan and Laina Muroni; brother, Harold N. Morgan; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Besides his beloved Alice, he was predeceased by his brother, William F. Morgan Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the North Stonington Christian Academy or Apple Rehab Mystic, who provided him with exceptional care and comfort for the last six months of his life.

At the family's request, funeral arrangements and burial are private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly.
