Waterford - Eleanor Carr, 92, of Mary St., Waterford, passed away on Thursday evening, April 19, 2012, at Bride Brook Health and Rehabilitation Center in East Lyme.

She was born in New London, on March 19, 1920, the daughter of Eugene and Helen Mosbrooker Courtney. Eleanor graduated from the former Williams Memorial Institute in 1938 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, after the war, she worked at Electric Boat Company. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in New London.

Eleanor is survived by two sons, William R. Carr and wife, Patricia, of Niantic and John F. Carr III of Middleton; one sister, Mildred Vlaun; as well as grandchildren, Dana Carr of Niantic, Dylan Carr and wife, Kimberly, of Niantic, Megan Carr and husband, Adam Blumberg; and her great-grandchildren, Griffin and Riley Carr, Quinn and Zoe McGregor.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude Bergeron and Veronica Staubly; and her brother, Eugene "Bud" Courtney.

A private graveside service will be held in St. Mary Cemetery, New London.

Byles Memorial Home, New London is in charge of arrangements.
