Waterford - Elizabeth Mary DeWick, 87, died on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

She was born on April 11, 1925, in Hartford, the daughter of William and Bertha (Lagasse) Austin.
She grew up in West Haven, where she met and married Richard F. DeWick, the love of her life.
They were married for 64 years. They moved to Old Mystic where she enjoyed raising her family, bowling, and being president of the Old Mystic Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. They later lived in New London, where she worked at Mitchell College, and in Middlefield, where she was the president of the Ladies Guild at St. Colman Catholic Church. She enjoyed making rosaries which were sent to various countries overseas. She was also famous for making sock monkeys for her entire family and many friends, totaling over 35.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Celeste Brooks and husband, Kenneth, of Waterford; sons, Ray DeWick and his wife, Chris, of Pawcatuck and Fred DeWick and wife, Diane, of Oakdale; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Richard Henry DeWick II.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at St. Joseph Church, Squire St., New London. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Thomas Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London.
