Ellen L. Maplesden Obituary
Norwich - Ellen L. (Anderson) Maplesden, 65, passed away at her home on Dec. 10, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.

Ellen was born May 29, 1947, in New London, the daughter of Rita (Peckham) Anderson and the late Robert Anderson.

Ellen was predeceased on Aug. 29, 2011, by her loving husband of 40 years, Charles "Chuck" Maplesden Jr.

Ellen grew up in New London and attended New London schools. Ellen worked at Seifretts Bakery, Bradlees, and Roberts Electronics. She was an extreme lover of nature and animals where she faithfully fed the birds and the deer in her yard for over 25 years. Ellen loved bowling and was a league member at the Norwich Ten Pin Bowl. She was passionate about crafting and enjoyed working in the yard and going to the casino. Ellen and Chuck enjoyed line dancing and were avid boaters for many, many years where they owned their boat "Lady Ellen" at Spicer's Marina.

What she treasured most in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, and aunt. She loved spending time with them and was always there to take care of them.

She is survived by her mother, Rita Anderson, with whom she made her home for 65 years; her mother-in-law, Loretta Maplesden; her sisters, Rita Hill and husband, Ed, of Waterford and Bobbie Kirchner and husband, Joe, of Plainfield; and her devoted family dog, "Sandy". She leaves behind many cousins, including her Sister cousin, Donna Peckham of New London. In addition, she is survived by two nieces, four nephews, and 10 great nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly.

Donations may be made in memory of Ellen to The William W. Backus Hospital, Humane Society, or Hospice Southeastern Connecticut.

The funeral and burial will be private.
