Waterford - Florence Marie Morse, 96, of 4 Weims Court, Waterford, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Newport, R.I. on Feb. 27, 1916, the daughter of Dennis and Florence (Jackman) Sullivan. Mrs. Morse was an accomplished musician on piano, organ, steel guitar and other instruments and was also a concert pianist. During the World War II years, she led a dance band and played many functions including ships parties for the destroyers of the Atlantic Fleet based in Newport, R.I. as well as weddings and seasonal events. She is the wife of the late William H. Morse Sr. who died in 1970.
She is a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Newport, R.I. where she had served as worthy matron, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Through her late husband's Masonic activities, Mrs. Morse attend and participated in many of the area Masonic activities and especially enjoyed helping with the Annual Strawberry Festival held by Union Lodge 31, AF & AM.
She is survived by her son, William H. Morse Jr. and his wife, Theresa, of East Lyme; and a brother, Joseph Sullivan and his wife, Sylvia, of Springfield, Mass.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Dennis Sullivan; and a sister, Doris Douglas.
A private burial service will take place on Monday, at the Newport Memorial Park, Middletown, R.I. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London.
