Waterford - George R. Linneman, 92, of Waterford, died on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Bayview Health Care Center, where he had been a resident for over 6 years.

He was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of George and Augusta (Mohr) Linneman. He grew up in Queens, N.Y. He was a member of the Army Air Corps in World War II and served in the Pacific Theater in photo reconnaissance. He married Jean Gullett in Queens on March 7, 1947.

He returned from the war to work with the New York City Police Department serving with the 73rd precinct for 20 years. His second career was as a banker with Citibank of New York, where he worked for 20 years before his retirement in 1984. He retired to Connecticut with his wife to be near his daughter's family where they continued to enjoy many family activities.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jean in 2009; and a son, Curtis G. Linneman.

He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Harvey Beeman of Preston; his three grandchildren, Laura O'Grady and Eric Beeman of Larkspur, Calif., Glenn Beeman of Cambridge, Mass.; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia O'Grady of Larkspur, Calif.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, with a memorial service following, at Thomas L Neilan & Sons East Lyme, Grand St., Niantic. Interment will be in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, Long Island.
