Uncasville - Helen Louise Egger Allyn, 90, of 38 Dydo Drive, Uncasville, died Sat., Feb. 3, 2007 at the Haven Health in Waterford. Mrs. Allyn had been at the Health Haven of Waterford since last April.|
Born in City Island, N.Y., on Jan. 23, 1917, daughter of Joseph A. Egger and Edna Horton Egger, she was a long time resident of New London and graduated from Williams Memorial Institute class of 1935.
She married George Valentine Allyn on Aug. 10, 1943 and moved to Uncasville in 1959. Her husband died on June 13, 1987.
She was predeceased by three brothers, John Egger, Robert Egger and William Egger.
Mrs. Allyn had worked at Sheffield's Tube Corporation, as did her father, and then worked for Connecticut College, retiring in 1983 after 21 years of service.
She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW 189 and Faternal Order of Eagles, Woman of the Moose, Montville Senior Citizens, Old Timers of New London and Explorers International of Norwich.
Surviving are her son, William H. Allyn, of Uncasville; daughter, Lynn D. Londregan, and son-in-law, James A. Londregan, of Waterford; two grandchildren, Dr. Allyn Londregan of Philadelphia and Jennifer Allyn of Houston, Texas; and four-great grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held.
