Old Lyme - Helen C. Maranda of Old Lyme, died on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at her residence.

She was born on June 27, 1924, in Boston, the daughter of Francis E. Moore and Mabel (Brown) Moore. She was the widow of Francis J. Maranda, who died on Aug. 4, 2010.
She was a veteran of World War II, serving with the WAVES. Mrs. Maranda worked as an LPN for 25 years at the West Haven VA Hospital and for 20 years at Interim Health Care. She was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Wives of Sub Vets World War II.
Mrs. Maranda is survived by her daughters, Jeanine F. Maranda and Jacqueline York and her husband, Allan, all of Old Lyme; her sons, Francis J. Maranda Jr. and his wife, Pat, of South Carolina and John Maranda and his wife, Susan, of Florida; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by her brothers, William and Arthur Moore.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 10, in Christ The King Church, McCurdy Road, Old Lyme. Burial will be private.
