James Wiemann Obituary

Colchester - In memory of James "Jim" Chester Wiemann who passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, in Colchester at Harrington Court.

Jim was born on Aug. 31, 1935, in Ledyard. In his lifetime, he was known as a "jack of all trades." In his earlier years, his hobbies consisted of racing cars at the Waterford Speedbowl, working on diesel trucks, and repairing helicopters in the Army National Guard. He had a passion for Diamond-T trucks and helped digitize manuals for the Diamond-T Classic website.

Jim had a love for mechanics and working with his hands throughout his life. He built two homes, one in Preston and the other in Lowell, Vt. He was always there for anyone and everyone who needed a helping hand as the kind-hearted man we all knew.

Jim worked and retired after 30 years from Old Saybrook Door Co., and was also honorably discharged in November 1990 from AVCRAD National Guard after 21 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ethel Wiemann; and three daughters, Susan Reau and son-in-law, Randall Reau, Barbara Cedio and son-in-law, Michael Cedio, and Karlene Wiemann and partner, Joseph Delesio. He is also survived by six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Condolences to the family may be sent to PO Box 173, Uncasville CT 06382.

Services will be private.

May you rest in peace, Jim.

Ethel, I served with Jim in the guards and I can still hear his voice. I always enjoyed him, he was a good soldier. I was very sorry to read of his passing. Be sure that there were many of us who enjoyed Jim and all he brought into our lives.

Ethel, your hurt is so big and my words are so small. It's so hard to say good-bye to the love of your life, just remember even deep loss cannot take away deep love. Stay strong and lean on your many friends that love you, until you meet again in Heaven. Thinking of you now and in the days ahead.

Mrs. Wiemann, Susan, Barbara, & Karlene:

On behalf of the entire Karns & Taurianen families, please accept our sympathies on Mr. Wiemann's passing.

I have every confidence that he was greeted @ the Pearly Gates by both my Mom & Dad. And they're still catching-up over a cup of coffee.

My childhood memories seem to always include Mr. Wiemann ~ my second Dad, especially when I was "a 13-year old midgit." ():o)

What a fulfilling life Jim had with his family and friends. He will be missed, but leaves a little of himself with all the lives he has touched throughout his life. My heart goes out to Ethel and family with his passing.
