Ledyard - James S. Youmans, 56, passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born March 24, 1956, to Samuel A. Youmans and the late Kathryn (Sofield) Youmans. Jim was raised in the Albany, N.Y. area, and was a 1974 graduate of Voorheesville Central High School, Voorheesville, N.Y. He served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Jim owned and operated Youmans Carpet Cleaning Service for 34 years. He was a past member of the Ledyard Lions Club and BNI of New London. Jim also served on the board of trustees of the Ledyard Congregational Church. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Mary (Beaulieu) Youmans; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer (Youmans) and Andrew Vuono of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his son, Christopher Youmans at home; his father, Samuel Youmans of Voorheesville; his sister and brother-in-law, Donna (Youmans) and John Clark of Gales Ferry; his brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Sharon Youmans of Greenbush, N.Y., and Timothy and Midge Youmans of Winchester, Va.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Jim's life will he held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Ledyard Congregational Church. Burial will be private.
