Groton - Jane (Fisher) Fenton Ackley, 91, of Groton, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at the home of Jason and Katie Quinlan, where she had spent her final days.

She was born on Feb. 12, 1923, in Manhattan, N.Y., the daughter of William and Jennie (Whitman) Fisher.
Jane had been married to the late William Fenton in 1944. He passed away in 1977. In 1981, she married Theodore R. Ackley Sr., who passed away in 1989.
She is survived by a son, Bruce Fenton of Groton; and three daughters, Heather (Barry) Avery of North Granby, Virginia Van Duyne of Westerly, Robin Hespeler of Stonington. She is also survived by her two step-sons, Theodore Ackley Jr. of Groton and Robert Ackley Sr. of Stonington; 11 grandchildren, Laurie Wright, Kevin Avery, Justin Avery, Brittany Allen, William Van Duyne, Katie Quinlan, Susan Hespeler, Jay Hespeler, Lucas Hespeler, and William Reber; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Fenton Reber in 1983; a daughter-in-law, Diane Fenton in 1996; and a granddaughter, Lisa Reber-Guieb.
For over 40 years, Jane had been employed at Fort Hill Pharmacy as a clerk and bookkeeper from which she retired.
She was a longtime and very active member of the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Groton, where she was a deacon and treasurer for many years. She also enjoyed folding the bulletins for the Sunday service.
For many years Jane was involved in a bowling league at Holiday Bowl. She had a love of baseball that included going to her grandson's games and watching the Red Soxs. In her pastime, she enjoyed playing cards with her close friends, but most importantly she loved to be around her family.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday June 21, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 310 Fort Hill Road, Groton.
