East Lyme - Jean Elizabeth Stamm, born Dec. 9, 1929, in Bristol, passed peacefully at her home in Niantic, from pancreatic cancer on Monday, July 16, 2012.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, A. Carl Stamm of Niantic; her two sons, Gregory Karl Stamm of Lincoln University, Pa., and Gary Carl Stamm of Niantic. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Deborah G Stamm; grandchildren, Andrew Carl Stamm and Sarah Elizabeth Stamm of Lincoln University, and Gerard Zabik of Niantic.
During her lifetime, she lived in a number of Connecticut communities, Shelton and Winsted, and was a librarian in these communities. She retired as director of New Hartford Library and moved to Niantic where she was active in the community, Senior's Book Club, Southeastern Connecticut Children's Museum, Meals-on-Wheels, and Niantic Community Church. She was an accomplished amateur artist and participated and won numerous awards in local and regional art contests.
A memorial celebration will be held at the convenience of the family at Niantic Community Church at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
