Waterford - Josephine (Socha) Roy, 99, of Gallup Lane, died on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Sava Healthcare at Bridebrook, Niantic.

She was born on May 16, 1913, in Fall River, Mass., the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Gruchata) Socha. She married the late Edward Thomas Roy on Oct. 29, 1938, at St. Mary Church, Norwich. Mr. Roy passed away on Oct. 10, 2001.
Josephine graduated from the former Chapman Tech, she owned and operated The Charm Beauty Shop on State Street in New London for many years and was associated with Ed Roy's Floor Covering in New London for 31 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Osman; a granddaughter, Natasha Roy; a grandson, Michael Roy; Jeannette Barruffa, who was like a sister; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Edward P. Roy; three brothers, Andrew, Peter, Frank; and a sister, Vera Holder.
A celebration of her life will be held at noon Friday, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the celebration. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, in Jordan Cemetery.
