Groton - Lillian M. Bart, 93, of 380 Tyler Ave., Groton, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Fairview Nursing Home in Groton.|
She was born in Holyoke, Mass., on June 30, 1919, the daughter of John C. and Katherine (Maloney) Moriarty. Lillian married Edward Bart on May 1, 1943 in Holyoke. Edward passed away Dec. 8, 2008. Lillian had worked as a visiting nurse in South Hadley, Mass., as well as an administrative assistant for the Worthington Corporation and Hampden- Harvard.
Lillian was an avid reader her entire life. She loved to decorate her home and working in her flower garden. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to Colebrook, N.H. and Cape Cod throughout their entire lives.
She is survived by two daughters, Julie Jones and her husband, K.C., of Groton and Katherine Dunphy and her husband, Bill, of New York City; a sister, Catherine Dennehy of Groton; two grandchildren, Kenneth Jones and his wife, Tami, of Groton and Christopher Jones of North Grafton, Mass. She also is survived by her great-grandchildren, Stefan, Corey and Derek Jones, who constantly helped her to live in her own home for many years; and her godson, Neil Dennehy.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 6, at Colonel Ledyard Cemetery, Groton. There are no visiting hours.
Byles-Groton Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
A gathering is planned at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 6, at the home of K.C. and Julie Jones.
