Montville - Louis H. Bond of 41 Beckwith Road, Chesterfield, passed away at home, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, with his wife and family by his side.

Louis was born Aug. 4, 1931 in Middletown. He was the son of the late Stephen N. and Anna E. Bond of Niantic. He graduated in 1950 from Buckley High School in New London and upon graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp., receiving an honorable discharge in 1952. Louis attended the University of Connecticut from 1953-1954. On Feb. 5, 1955, he married the love of his life, Gladys (Herndon) Bond and moved to Chesterfield, she survives him. Together they owned and operated Triple Brook Farm and in 1966 opened L.H. Bond Sand and Gravel, which they owned and operated for 42 years, until retiring in 2008.
Louis is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gladys; daughter, Susan and son-in-law, Larry Roberge, of Chesterfield; son, Stephen Bond of Mystic; daughter, Donna and son-in-law, Chris Funk, of Chesterfield; daughter, Barbara and son-in-law, James Hilbie, of Chesterfield; son, Bill Bond and daughter-in-law, Robyn Cecchini-Bond, of Uncasville; and a sister, Janice Skene of Middletown. Louis is also survived by 14 grandchildren; Kelly Wilson, Nicole Roberge, Danny Roberge, Hayley Bond, Ian Bond, Kristyn Dudek, Katie Funk, Meg Fournier, Anna Hilbie, James Hilbie, Billy Bond, Berkeley Cecchini-Bond, Quinn Bond, McKinley Bond; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis Dudek and Lily Dudek.
The Bond Family will celebrate Louis's life in private.
