Mystic - Madeline Merrill, 93, formerly of Manchester, N.H., passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Mystic Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mystic.

Madeline was born July 27, 1919, daughter of the late Dora and Walter Maynard.
She and her late husband of 61 years, Frederick A. Merrill Jr., lived in Manchester, N.H., for many years. In their later years they spent their time between Haines City, Fla., and Seabrook, N.H. Madeline was educated in Manchester and graduated from Central High School in 1937. After graduation, she worked for the Public Service Co., and the Manchester School System. She was an active member of the American Legion in Manchester for many years.
Madeline is survived by her daughters, Brenda Caldwell of Lunenburg, Mass., and Donna Damon and her husband, David, of Mystic; four grandchildren, Katharine, Rebecca, Stephen, and Hannah; and a great-grandchild, Jackson.
She was predeceased by her infant brother, Vaughan.
Madeline will be remembered for her infectious laughter, enjoyment of family and friends, and traveling with her husband. She loved her church, Grace Episcopal Church in Manchester, where she was a Sunday school teacher, member of the Altar Guild and Women's Guild.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Mystic Healthcare for the expert care and compassion shown to Madeline during her residency.
