North Stonington - Margaret B. Leary, 64, of North Stonington, beloved wife of Fred Leary, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, R.I.

Born in Batavia, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Merson) Baker and resided in North Stonington since 1973. She earned her bachelor's degree from Charter Oak State College, and her master's in library science (MLS) from Southern Connecticut State University.

Margaret was a part-time librarian at the Preston Library, and most recently was the director at the Salem Library, up until her retirement. For many years, she participated in a Monday morning bowling league in Westerly. She loved reading, especially mysteries, and enjoyed many crafts, including knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitching.

In addition to her husband, she leaves two children, Andrew Leary and his wife, Tricia, of Pawcatuck, and Joanna Beyer and her husband, Chris, of Guilford; a brother, Harold Baker, of Rolla, Mo.; a sister, Patricia Baker-Batsel and her husband, John, of Longmont, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Caroline M. Beyer, Thomas M. Beyer, and Travis J. Leary.

Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery, Route 49, North Stonington.
