East Lyme - Marianne Dorothy O'Sullivan of 14 Greentree Drive, died peacefully Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Bride Brook Health and Rehab Center, following a long illness.

She was born in Jackson Heights, N.Y., the daughter of Edward Hofler and Florence (Corcoran) Hofler.
She married John O'Sullivan in St. Gabriel Church in Elmhurst, N.Y., on Feb. 2, 1963; he survives her.
Marianne graduated from Mary Louis Academy and Grace Institute. She was employed as an executive secretary for Universal Studio and Levi Strauss Co., in New York City. After moving from Long Island, N.Y., to East Lyme, she worked for the East Lyme School System.
In addition to her husband, Marianne is survived by two sons, John O'Sullivan of Salem and Edward O'Sullivan of Clinton; two daughters, Mary Stapleton of Wilmington, N.C., and Anne O'Sullivan of East Lyme; two brothers, Edward Hofler of Alexandria, Va., and Terrence Hofler of Riverdale, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, Norah, John, Kevin, Jack, Eva, Maddie, and Ronan. Marianne will also be missed by her many friends.
She enjoyed her home and yard. Marianne loved spending time at the beach, especially in Mattituck, Long Island and McCook's Beach in Niantic. Being surrounded by her family brought her great joy. Marianne loved Christmas and lived it 365 days a year. Gifted with a beautiful voice, Marianne had a passion for music. Her sense of humor was matched only by her love of life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday in St. Agnes Church, Niantic. There will be no calling hours and interment will be private, at her request.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bride Brook who took such special care of Marianne.
