Marion Bodde Obituary
New London - Marion Bodde, better known as Trix, 72, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, three weeks after being diagnosed with an aggressive sarcoma.

Trix was born in the Netherlands while her parents were fleeing the World War II bombing of Rotterdam. She immigrated to New York when she was 20, working as a secretary, earning a degree in classics from Columbia University, and meeting her husband Ted. Trix and Ted moved to Stonington and then New London, where Trix raised her daughters and worked as a substitute teacher/librarian and freelance calligrapher.

Beloved for her keen mind, often caustic wit, and ability to get things done, Trix was a fixture on the local cultural scene, always excited about the latest play, opera, concert or museum exhibit. She was a longtime leader of the Mysticalligraphers and an avid quilter and crafter.

Trix is survived by her daughters, Jennifer of Boston, Mass. and Jessica of New London; her granddaughter, Anya; her brother, Tom Barlage of France; and her niece, Marjan Barlage of the Netherlands. Her husband Ted died in 1993.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at All Souls Church in New London.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to one of the many local cultural institutions that Trix enjoyed and supported.
