Stonington - Mary-Preston Morton, 68, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Mary-Preston was born and grew up in New York City and attended Chapin School. She worked in the city for a number of years, eventually moving back to Stonington where her family had roots. She has lived here for the last 35 years with her husband Rand B. Jones Jr.
M.P., as she was known to all her friends, touched everyone she met with her love, sense of humor and grace. She was a passionate gardener with an amazing green thumb, and a cheerful and enthusiastic tennis player - a true champion who lived every day to its fullest. She was a calm voice of reason and a loving and firm anchor to her family - in the words of her grandchildren, "the best Grandma ever".
She will be sorely missed by her husband and her children and grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Satruday, Oct. 6, at Calvary Church, Stonington, with a reception following at the Wadawanuck Club.
