Michelle J. Runde Obituary
Hope Valley, R.I. - Michelle J. (Gilchrist) Runde, 68, of Skunk Hill Road, Hope Valley, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at The Westerly Hospital.

She was the loving wife of William E. Runde, and was born Dec. 15, 1943, in Westerly, a daughter of the late Joseph and Reba (Wright) Gilchrist. After graduation, she became a beautician, operated the family grocery store for three years, had three children, and continued her education by taking various courses in accounting, sign language, Spanish, business machines and data processing.

Michelle graduated from Johnson & Wales University. She was a sales clerk for Fleming's Department Store, an accounts payable clerk for the Westerly School Department, an X-ray transcriptionist for South County Hospital for six and a half years and for the R.I. Department of Human Services for five and a half years. She met a wonderful man, Bill Runde, a retired Navy senior chief submariner in June 1988 and they married in Dec. 1989 on her birthday.

Michelle owned a lingerie business for 12 years and owned and operated Que Sera Ceramics for the past six years. She traveled to seven foreign countries and 44 states with six more states on the agenda. She belonged to and had held offices in various religious, civic and political organizations on the state and local level.

Michelle volunteered and donated time to the shelter for battered women, the soup kitchen, the food bank, Senior Helping Others and by going to the home bound and giving haircuts. She taught fourth and sixth grade catechism, sang in the church choir and continued her career in entertainment organizing and participating in shows for various organizations.

Besides her loving husband, she will be sadly missed by her three children, Brock Cozzolino of Bryant, Maine, Darcy LoPriore of Summerfield, Fla. and Blythe Tetlow of West Kingston, R.I.; her six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and her sister, Denise Murray of Hope Valley, R.I.

Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral home service at 3 p.m. Saturday, in the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3A Bank St., Hope Valley, R.I. Calling hours are from 1 to 3 p.m.
