Millicent Thomas Obituary

Groton - Millicent M. Thomas, 86, of 300 Brandegee Ave., in Groton, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010, at the Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven.

She was born on Jan. 16, 1924, in Perth Amboy, N.J., the daughter of Vladamir and Albertine Burnett Rogers and had attended schools in New London while growing up.

Mrs. Thomas was married to the late Everett L. Thomas, Sr. on Jan. 29, 1944, in New London. He died on Dec. 18, 1983.

Completely devoted to her husband and family, she will always be remembered for her love of family, kind spirit and her kindness to others.

A lovely lady, she enjoyed her outings; in particular her 'breakfast club' at Tim Horton's, her grinders at Bluff Point and her fun at the casino's.

Her survivors include two daughters, Gay M. (Frank) Bunnell Madden of Terre Haute, Ind., Brenda K. (Michael) Chopp of Uncasville, Linus C. (Coni) Thomas of Terre Haute, Bruce J. (Mary) Thomas of Stonington, Glen P. (Anita) Thomas of Groton, Everett L. Thomas, Jr. of Colchester; a sister, Colleen Allard of San Jose, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Rosalie; two brothers, Vladamir and Macdonald; a daughter, Beverly Jean Thomas; son in law, Robert A. Bunnell; and a granddaughter, Victoria Gay Bunnell.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery, Groton. There are to be no visiting hours.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Buggelin for all of his kindness over the years, to her neighbor Theresa for always being there, and to her 'Chef Mike'.
