Muriel Jacobson Obituary
Dedham, Mass. - Muriel Jacobson, 89, formerly of Norwich, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at her home at NewBridge on the Charles, in Dedham, Mass., of congestive heart failure.

Born on Dec. 5, 1923, she was the daughter of the late David and Esther Trachtenberg. The family owned Trachtenberg's, a men's and ladies' clothing store, which was a fixture on Norwich's Main Street for decades, until it closed in 1969.

She married noted Norwich attorney Milton Jacobson on May 18, 1947. They were married for 57 years, until his death on Dec. 21, 2005.

Muriel served as president of Beth Jacob Synagogue Sisterhood and was a regional president of B'nai Brith. An avid reader, she also spent many years on the board of directors at Otis Library. In the 1970s, she was a local Red Cross volunteer.

Prior to moving to Dedham in 2009, Muriel was an active bridge player at the Norwich Senior Center. In addition, she and Milton enjoyed extensive travels around the world.

Muriel is survived by her sons, John Jacobson and William Jacobson, both of New York City, and Matthew Jacobson of Ashland, Mass. Also surviving her are grandchildren, Hannah Jacobson and Candice Jacobson, both of Norwich.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Beth Jacob Synagogue, 400 New London Turnpike, Norwich. Burial will follow in First Hebrew Society Cemetery, Route 12, Preston.
