He was the second of two children born to Otis Sutton and Frances (Phelps) Sutton, both of whom preceded him in death. Upon retiring from the Navy after 22 years, in 1985, Neslie worked at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton and New London until his retirement after 20 years, in April 2006. During 37 years of living in Groton, Neslie held several odd jobs around the area. He enjoyed bowling, and was an avid participant in local charity runs (he finished two marathons!) A friend to many, he was loved and respected by all.
