Stonington - A celebration of the life of Dick Mitchell, who passed away on May 25, 2012, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Pine Point School in the Mitchell Building.
If you plan to attend, please contact David Hannon at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1.860.535.0606 ext. 132.
He was born on Oct. 24, 1941, in Fort Madison, Iowa, to the late Alice and Mike Mitchell.
Upon arriving in Eastern Connecticut in 1967, Dick served in ministerial capacities at Noank Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of North Stonington. For 22 years, Dick served as teacher and headmaster at Pine Point School in Stonington. Dick was a beloved member of the Pine Point community and was both humbled and incredibly proud when the school honored him as a Headmaster Emeritus and named a building in his honor. Dick and Linda moved to Atlanta in 1990, where he served at Peachtree Christian Church and Woodward Academy.
Dick was loved and cherished by those who knew him for his keen intellect, compassion, generosity, and sense of humor. He unfailingly put others before himself and truly lived his life in service to others.
Dick is survived by his wife and love of his life, Linda; his children, Eric and his wife, Marci, and Todd and his wife, Tracy; his granddaughter, Samantha, who he adored; and his sisters, Betty and Lana and their families.
The family suggests donations be made to Pine Point School, designated to student financial aid in memory of Richard W. Mitchell, please visit www.pinepoint.org
A memorial service will be held at Pine Point School in the fall.
