Rose Slosberg Obituary

Jupiter, Fla. - Rose Pasnik Slosberg, 95, beloved wife of Harold J. Slosberg for over 75 years, passed away peacefully at her home in Jupiter, Fla. on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010.

Though born in New York City on May 9, 1914, to Charles and Fannie Pasnik, the family moved to Westerly soon after and Rose attended Elm St. School. Eventually, the family relocated to Norwich, where Rose graduated from Norwich Free Academy (NFA). She went on to graduate from the Willimantic State Teachers College, in Willimantic.

Rose and Harold split their time between Watch Hill, R.I. and Sarasota, Fla. from 1965 until 2004, when they stayed in Florida fulltime.

As a Life Master in duplicate bridge, a champion golfer, and abstract painter, Rose won many awards and honors over the course of her life.

A loving and dedicated wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, Rose is survived by her husband, Harold Slosberg; sister, Marion Axelrod; daughters, Carol Finkelman and Nancy Klotz; son, Michael Slosberg; grandchildren, Julie Wolman, Meredyth Klotz, Lauren Park, John Edelstein, Abbey Klotz, Hilary Steinman, Karen Slosberg; and nine great-grandchildren.

She follows in death, brother, Leo Mandel and sister, Sara Elstein.

She was a discerning and intelligent woman who will be missed and mourned.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Rose to Congregation Sharah Zedek, 6 Union Street, Westerly, RI 02891.

Family and friends are asked to gather to celebrate Rose's life at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Congregation Sharah Zedek. Internment will follow at River Bend Cemetery, in Westerly. Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 24, 2010, at 10 No Bottom Ridge, Westerly.

Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Avenue, New London are handling the arrangements.

Dear Harald and Michael,
I just learned of your wifes passing. Iremember her well when she use to drive in the mercedies convertible with you Harold. I got to talk with her at my wedding at the haversham inn in 1975 when my wife and i got married. i went back in my album and there you two were it brought back alot of memorys . i really enjoyed my time working at UBS .
